Minimize & prevent behavioural problems by building the right care routine for your dog

  • Description:

    Providing a high quality life for your dog is not something that comes naturally to most people- they are a completely different species after all! This class is designed to help you understand what the average dogs needs, and, most importantly, how to figure out what your specific dog needs in order to feel fulfilled and enjoy life to the fullest.

    Curriculum:

    Class 1:

    • Diet

    • Healthcare

    • Sleep

    • Physical exercise

    • Play

    • Trust building

    Class 2:

    • Consistency & clear communication

    • Routine

    • Protection from unnecessary fear & distress

    • Autonomy & choice

    • Problem solving & learning

    • Outlets for instinctive behaviours

    Class 3:

    • Cooperative care games (with live demos)

    • Enrichment ideas (with live demos & products)

  • Time: Thursday evenings for 3 weeks (this is a 45 min class)

Training & Behaviour Science

How to do your training effectively & recognize early signs of budding behavioural problems

  • Description:

    Are you running out of tricks to teach your dog? Or do they seem to know what you’re asking for, but are being stubborn or blowing you off when you need them to listen? Or perhaps your dog does this weird thing, and you can’t figure out if you should be worried about it or not. Either way, this is the class for you!

    Curriculum:

    Class 1:

    • Clean mechanics

    • Marking & rewarding/clicker training (with live demos)

    • Cue order

    • Luring, shaping & capturing (with live demos)

    • Setting up training sessions (with live demos)

    Class 2:

    • Push, Drop, Stick (with live demos)

    • Proofing (with live demos)

    • Generalizing (with live demos)

    • Weaning off treats

    • Body Language (when to call it quits)

    Class 3:

    • Reactivity

    • Resource guarding

    • Separation anxiety & isolation distress

    • Generalized fear & anxiety

    • Aggression

Reactivity Foundations

What it is, what you can do about it & what you can expect life to look like after training

  • Description:

    Reactivity can be an overwhelming behaviour problem that feels unpredictable, stressful & isolating. But it doesn’t have to be any of those things. With a little knowledge, practice & community support from your fellow reactive dog owners, change is possible.

    Curriculum:

    Class 1:

    • What is reactivity & why does it happen

    • Triggers

    • Thresholds

    • Body Language

    Class 2:

    • Management

    • Enrichment

    • Decompression

    • Building your support system

    Class 3:

    • When to consider medication

    • Training games (with live demos)

    • Tracking progress

    • Timelines for change & realistic outcomes
