Intro to Urban Hunting

Hunting for Animal Smells

  • Prereq Classes: N/A

    Prereq Skills: settling quietly in a vehicle alone, ability to feel comfortable around novel humans*

    Note: Cars are required to attend this class as every dog searches individually. Dogs must be OK with relaxing in their vehicle between searches.

  • Intro to Urban Hunting is an amazing outlet for dogs with prey drive or dogs who crave a job to do.

    Based on the dog sports “Nosework” and “Barnhunt,” this class (we like to think of it as “Vegan Barnhunt”) focuses on introducing your dog to the concept of hunting for animal smells.

    Location: Connective Community Center (3360 Fraser St, Vancouver, BC V5V 4C1)

    Maximum Capacity: 4 dogs per class & 4 humans per dog (please leave children under 10 at home)

    Cost: $299 +GST

    Vaccinations & Behavior Requirements: Dogs must be over the age of 4 months and be able to provide proof of vaccinations/titer tests. If your dog has a history of human aggression/fear please contact us about private Barnhunt sessions.

    This class is open to dogs of all shapes, sizes & temperaments, including reactive, senior, and dogs with mobility and endurance challenges.

Intro to Nosework

Hunting for Food

  • Prereq Classes: n/a

    Prereq Skills: settling quietly in a vehicle alone, ability to feel comfortable around novel humans*

  • Intro to K9 Nosework is where your dog will learn the foundation skills of the sport.

    The class focus is on building their drive to search, as well as their independent hunting & problem solving skills.

    No prior experience or training is required, but this class will be required to participate in our Intro to Odour Class.

  • Time: Wednesday Evenings

    Location: Connective Community Center (3360 Fraser St, Vancouver, BC V5V 4C1)

    Maximum Capacity: 4 dogs per class

    Cost: $299 +GST

  • Intro to odour is your next step on your nosework journey.

    This class focuses on introducing your dog to the concept of hunting for essential oils instead of food.

  • Time: Wednesday Evenings

  • Continuing Urban Hunting is where you continue to refine your dog’s nosework skills!

    This class focuses on sharpening your dog’s ability to hunt for animal smells and introduces intermediate concepts.

    This class is suitable for beginner to intermediate handlers due to the fact that each dog’s search can be scaled up or down in terms of difficulty.

  • Time: Wednesday Evenings

    Maximum Capacity: 3 dogs per class

  • Continuing Nosework is your next step on your nosework journey.

    This class focuses on strengthening your dogs hunting skills and priming them to move on to hunting for non food smells.

  • Time: Wednesday Evenings
